In this session, Revay will introduce common factors that lead to claims and/or disputes on projects. Revay will also introduce practices for different parties involved in the various phases of projects to consider in support of dispute avoidance and the management of claims and disputes. Zey Emir, P.Eng., MBA – President
Zey was named President of Revay in 2013. She is a professional engineer with more than 35 of experience in project management and consulting to the construction industry. She specializes in the preparation of claims and expert reports for both contractors and owners. Her areas of expertise include quantification of damages, loss of productivity calculations, as well as complex delay analyses. She has prepared, analyzed, and negotiated the resolution of countless construction claims and has been recognized as an expert witness in court and by arbitration panels.
Zey is an active member of numerous construction associations across Canada, most notably the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), where she was appointed chair for 2018.
Suzanne Checkryn, P.Eng., MBA, PMP – Director, Prairies
Suzanne is a professional engineer with more than 27 years of experience working in engineering, construction, and consulting. She has been involved in a variety of projects, including numerous multibillion-dollar projects with complex engineering, supply chain, construction, project controls, risk management, and change management requirements. She has completed numerous mandates involving delay, loss of productivity, and cost quantification. Suzanne has been retained as expert for referee, mitigation, arbitration, and litigation, and has provided expert testimony for arbitration.
Suzanne is responsible for the firm’s Calgary office which services Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Territories. She is an active member of numerous construction associations across the Prairies.
